May-Thurner syndrome

May-Thurner syndrome is a rare condition in which the left common iliac vein is compressed between the overlying right common iliac artery and lumbar spine. This results in venous stasis in the left iliofemoral vein. The condition manifests as discomfort, swelling or recurrent venous thrombosis in the left lower extremity in the absence of an underlying hypercoaguable state.
